New Handbag

I know, I know, it has been ages since I have even posted anything here! All I can say is, LIFE! It has been so busy around here with vacations, visiting family, Aaron gone for nearly this whole month, summer, and a busy, busy boy! I don't get much time to sneak in projects for myself since we love to be outside so much during the summer, but the past few days have been HOT here, so we have stayed in and I made this new handbag for myself!

I am a total sucker for navy blue and hot pink these days! I was browsing Joann's one day and saw this adorable floral print and then spotted the polka dot and knew I had to make a handbag for myself! I got the pattern from youcanmakethis.com when they were having the Summer $5 sale. The pattern was pretty good. I changed some things and wished some of the instructions were a bit more clear, but overall, it was a good pattern. I am all about monogramming everything, so I of course added my 3-letter monogram in hot pink. Next up, a wallet to match!

Baby Shower Gift

I made this absolutely adorable bubble for my aunt that needed a baby shower gift. It was the first time that I had sewn rick rack in like this, but it was easier than I expected and think it added to the overall cuteness of the outfit! The charms can be changed out each time. I also made the matching monogrammed bow. It was, again, the first time I had embroidered on ribbon, but it easy peasy! I plan to make a boy version for some good friends who recently had a baby.

Living Greener

Over the past 4 years of living in WI, I have learned a lot about living a greener life. We definitely recycle, eat at least 1 meatless meal a week, and just try to conserve energy the best we can. I recently decided that I want to do more and to teach Little Frog about living a greener/cleaner life. The 1st thing I decided to do was give up soda. This is definitely hard for me, not that I keep soda in the refrigerator, but I would grab a bottle every time I would go in a store. I honestly am just not that thrilled with just drinking water. When at home I always drank Crystal Light, but really that isn't that great for you with all of the artificial "stuff." I have done good the past 2 days with water only! Another change, I planned our menu for the month of April with all vegetarian meals. Aaron is quiet skeptical, but I think he will be pleasantly surprised at what I have planned! I am also trying to cut out all of the processed foods and make things from scratch. Today I am going to make granola, homemade greek yogurt, and fruit mix-ins for the yogurt. Little Frog and I eat at least 1 yogurt a day. Think of all of that plastic we will cut out!

We also try to cut out plastic bags by taking our own grocery bags to stores. I bought a lot a few years ago for really cheap, but I want some cute ones, so I plan to put a pattern together for some to share with all of you!

I am excited to start this journey for a healthier life and earth!

What would you wish for?

You know the saying to make a wish when you see all of the same numbers on the clock, for example 11:11? One day last week while Jagger and I were out running errands this happened, and it got me to thinking, what should I wish for? Before I knew it, it was past the wish time. So it made me think about how there isn't anything I would wish for because I am already lucky enough to have a loving and supportive husband that is also my best friend, a sweet, healthy yet sometimes devilish little boy, a place to call home that is in a wonderful community, loving family and friends, and so much more. While yes I could wish for a million dollars, but is it really all it is hyped up to be? I could wish for even more fabric to add to my already huge collection, but then I might not have that loving husband any more! I could wish for that perfect little girl that I dream of, but then I remember I already have a perfect little boy and maybe that is all I am meant to be the mother of. I am living the life that I used to wish and dream of as a little girl.

Aaron and I definitely went through our share of hard times to get to where we are now. Some brought on my stupid mistakes that we have learned from and some from just life in general. Today though, there is nothing more that I could wish for because life is perfect! So the next time it is time for you to make a wish, think about what you already have.
